To the members of MHAA.

I believe this information is important enough to be posted on my website for you to read.

Having been down the discrimination path twice against this association (and been successful) I believe it is important that you the members are aware of the current issues I am having with the MHAA.

The MHAA Committee of Management are
refusing to register some of my horses because I sold the sire of these foals before he turned 4 years of age. When I sold him, I sent his registration papers, along with the signed transfer form to the new owner.

This is the way I transferred my horses with the MHAA for over 20 years!

And when I bought a horse, the transfer and registration papers were sent to me exactly the same way.

Even the present registrar long ago bought a horse from me and this was the way I transferred that horse.

This MHAA Committee of management are refusing to register my foals from the stallion I sold even though
my foals were conceived and born to registered parents and were on the required stallion return. They qualify to be registered!

The stallion I sold, eventually had his registration revoked by the MHAA for not being brought into permanent status, but this was out of my hands as I had
no control over anything once he was sold.

The MHAA Committee of Management are well aware that there are provisions within the MHAA Constitution that would allow my horses to be registered, but they choose not to do this. WHY? What is their agenda?

It was explained to me by the MHAA Committee of Management that I had three options:

1. Bring the sire and dam out of revoked status by upgrading.

2. Wait until the progeny is two years old and bring them in with unknown parents.

3. Register the progeny with an Association that is recognized by the Miniature Horse Association of Australia Inc. and bring them in on those papers.

So I asked the MHAA Committee of Management these questions:

  1. Bring the sire and dam out of revoked status by upgrading.

Please explain to me how I can legally go about upgrading a horse that I do not own? I am fascinated by this comment and I require directions on how I can achieve this goal, please explain.

2. Wait until the progeny is two years old and bring them in with unknown parents
I have been a member of MHAA for over 20 years and I have been breeding this particular line of horses for 20 years and you are telling me I have to bring them into the MHAA stud book with unknown parents!
This is how you manage the association’s stud book, you want unknown parents on a horses registration when they are KNOWN and when they QUALIFED to have their bloodlines on their registration certificates?
I have made it very clear I sent the transfer and registration papers to the new owners.
You are telling me to register my horses with unknown bloodlines because you do not understand the meaning of SOLD...for your convenience here is the definition: sold
(disposed of to a purchaser) "this merchandise is sold

3. Register the progeny with an Association that is recognized by the Miniature Horse Association of Australia Inc. and bring them in on those papers.
Please tell me which associations MHAA now recognize, as there are so many different associations.

Then later, I was informed that MHAA recognize these associations:
Australian Miniature Pony Society Inc., Australian Pony Stud Book Society Inc. and the American Miniature Horse Association of USA.

I replied back to the MHAA:

My horses do not qualify with the American Miniature Horse Association as they are not registered with them, nor can they ever be as they have a closed stud book, nor do they qualify with the Australian Pony Stud book.
Am I understand you require me to register my miniature horses with a pony society, AMPS?

I have taken this extract from the MHAA website:

“The
Miniature and Small Horse is a unique breed and is not to be
 confused with a
Miniature Pony or Shetland  Pony.

You as a Committee should be well aware of the fact, my horses
qualify for registration. Your refusal to register my horses is invalid and incorrect.
I have contacted every previous MHAA Registrar I can find and they all agree my horses QUALIFY to be registered. They were born to registered parents, on a stallion return and the proper registration application was filled out correctly.

I also informed the MHAA Committee of Management to the
important fact that they are inconsistent on this issue, some horses have been registered and some have not. (this can be substantiated) Some of my own horses have actually been registered this way. and I also drew their attention to the fact, on so many occasions they choose to delay the processing of my paperwork. (this can be substantiated).

The MHAA can register my horses ...but they choose not to do this, they want me to register my miniature horses as ponies!!

They have refused to answer my question, "Please explain to me how I can legally go about upgrading a horse that I do not own?'

I have been told there will be no further communication on the matter from the MHAA Committee.

This is a ludicrous way of managing the MHAA....the association is supposed to be there for the members to breed and register MINIATURE HORSES, NOT PONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
